To create this collider, the 6 compositions that were previously posted plus two negatives of select designs were folded and connected together to make this 3d figure. Along with the original 8 compositions, this project called for additional 3d elements.

  • The materials used to create this piece were mesh plastic, thread, and varying weights and colors of wire. The materials used are all very linear, creating a relationship between them. This relationship is meant to seem as though the piece is held together by the wire and thread, delicately and eerily connected.

  • The physical materials added followed the lead of the 2d work, also giving the piece a sense of unity and uniformity. On one side of the collider, the original designs that represent closure are placed in such a way that you can see a whole circle from a certain angle. The wire is bent into a semi circle following the form of the circles form the designs, furthering the principle of closure.

  • The clear plastic material was cut out into triangles and placed over those in the continuation composition. These pieces were then strung together with thread to add to the theme of the collider being pieced together.

  • Thread was also used in one of the other continuation designs, with white triangles and a string of black triangles through the composition. Here, half of the triangles were cut out, letting you see through that wall into another one of the compositions. In the spaces of the cut out triangles, thread has been strung through the empty spaces, again adding to the "pieced together" theme.

  • Wire was also used in another way, just in a few places to hold the walls in the correct positions, so not only is the theme cosmetic, but it is also structurally necessary for his piece.
