simultaneous color contrast

The objective for this project was to create an abstract composition using complimentary colors overlaid by grey lines to create simultaneous contrast. The design is made up of overlapping silhouettes of leaves. For the color contrast to be successful, the grey values of the complimentary color had to be the same. This was achieved by a process of guessing and checking by changing the design to grayscale in Adobe Illustrator until the colors' greyscale values were equal. Also, the grey geometric lines that laid on top of the leaf design needed to have a 50% grey value to completely show the effects of simultaneous color contrast.
