pattern motif

For this project, students were to create an interesting and dynamic composition under the following pretenses. The final piece needed to be made up of 3 different patterns made from different photographed objects. Using these patterns, the next step was to fill silhouettes with each pattern. The silhouettes needed to consist of A building, a mode of transportation, and a human figure. These silhouettes could be very apparent or they could follow a more abstract path. Seen below is a man on a skateboard, with buildings in the background. While the skater is pretty obvious, the buildings behind him are not extremely apparent to be buildings. Playing with transparency and overlapping helped the silhouettes become more abstract and compositionally interesting.
